The idea behind the Peak District Surprise Proposal photography is to photograph something special thatโ€™s often not photographed. Just about everyone has a wedding photographer these days and some even have engagement shoots. But what about capturing the moment they say โ€œyesโ€, as well as the moment they say โ€œI doโ€?

Just like weddings, every proposal story is different – and I love that! It’s a story that is only yours.

Last month, Ethan got in touch explaining he would like to propose to his girlfriend, Lauren. They often visit the Peak District on his motorbike and enjoy the outdoors. He wanted to surprise her at their favourite spot.

Ethan had two important questions for me. Is it possible to capture the moment without his partner finding out, without me giving away my location? Can we have some engagement photos taken after the proposal?

Of course I said yes! In this case, my presence was revealed shortly after Ethan’s proposal. I introduced myself to his partner, after which we spent some time taking photographs at the location of the proposal. The first few hours after the proposal are the most emotionally charged. It’s always a great idea to have this very special time captured. I met Ethan shortly before the proposal to discuss a couple of final details. Then it was time to get into incognito mode!

I was able to have a scout for an engagement session location while waiting for the couple to arrive. I wanted to photograph as close to their favourite spot as possible while capturing the stunning surroundings. Luckily, didn’t have to go far to find a few amazing places!

If you need any help preparing for the big day. I am always happy to advise and offer my expertise on the best lighting conditions and locations for the best photographs.

As a documentary wedding photographer, I’m used to going unnoticed and capturing genuine emotions in the moment. In fact, my whole approach to wedding photography is about blending into the action without controlling it or getting in the way.

So, if you’re considering asking your partner to marry you. Then send me a message, I’d love be your secret photographer at your proposal!
